R.P. Gupta (1921 – 2000), bibliophile, raconteur and collector showed how passion and curiosity drove his interest in collecting rare books, paintings, prints and popular ephemera. The CSSSC archive has been fortunate to document his large collection of 19th century popular pictures and prints from Kalighat paintings, Battala wood-engravings, chromolithographs from various art presses and a series of lithographs on Calcutta by James Moffat.
